Then, once you decide to click on a post (from its handy thumbnail preview), you are taken through to the blog you’re following itself. You can also “like” favorite posts, which is basically the best way to bookmark them and save them for later.

reblogged: If Marriage is a Journey, Who Has the Map?

original: http://marriage.about.com/od/keysforsuccess/a/journey.htm

By Sheri & Bob Stritof

A few years ago, the two of us traveled to New England to attend a Marriage Encounter Convention. At the airport, we rented a car with two other couples. Being the controllers we all were, each couple had a map of Boston. We fussed with one another about whose map was correct since they were all a bit different regarding the one-way streets. This was before the time of GPS units and we got lost on our way to Worcester. We realized we were going in circles when we kept passing the same bicyclist. We didn't find the right road until we stopped the car, put our heads together, compared maps, and finally asked for directions.
Marriage is a topic about which people have strong feelings and thoughts. Every couple has their own "map." Marriage affects us all. It has a tremendous impact on the strength of the family and ultimately on society. Marriage is in the news a great deal. There are always articles on 50-year anniversary celebrations, upcoming wedding, divorces of celebrities, and scandalous marriages. Today's magazines are full of tests, questionnaires, tips, and advice about how to make a marriage work. Yet where is the good news about long term commitments, happy couples and stories of the excitement of traveling this marvelous journey of trust and discovery called marriage?
Our goal is to provide a place for all who are interested in marriage to come and compare "maps."Historically marriage has been around for a very long time. The institution of marriage was formed not only for the individuals getting married, but also for their society and for their future children. Due to high divorce rates and the legality of gay marriages, getting married is also a political issue. Communities, states, countries and religions are enacting legislation to require more marriage preparation before a marriage license is issued. Other societal and cultural issues affect marriages today. Some additional controversial issues include arranged marriages, teens getting married, cousins who want to marry, interracial and interfaith marriages, and cohabitation.
It is our hope that this web site will help you on your marriage journey and that you will realize you aren't alone on the journey. When problems such as domestic violence, infidelity, financial difficulties, and sexual miscommunication bring about disillusionment, you are not alone. When you are having fun, laughing with one another and are in romance, you are not alone. Through all the stages of marriage, you are not alone.
There is not just one map. We all have maps. As we journey together as a couple in our marriage, many of us will make a wrong turn, or get lost, or find ourselves on an unplanned detour not on our map. Sharing your map with the maps of others is one way to get back on the right route.
Here you will find the wisdom of those who went before us - the good, the bad and the ugly of marriage.
Here you will find the wisdom of those who are walking with you.
Here you will find hope for those who are just starting their marriage journey.
So ... who has the map? We all do. It's the collective map that is the right one.

Choosing a Handbag For your wedding

In the 17th century young girls were taught embroidery as a necessary skill for marriage, this also helped them make very beautiful handbags.  By the late 18th century, fashions in Europe were moving towards a slender shape, inspired by the silhouettes of Ancient Greece and Rome. Women wanted purses that would not be bulky or untidy in appearance, so reticules were designed. Reticules were made of fine fabrics like silk and velvet, with wrist straps. Originally popular in France, they crossed over into Britain, where they became known as "indispensables"

For a perfect wedding, a beautiful handbag is also indispensible. This is a very cute purse. It looks a lot darker than the online photo. Tonal colored stones and beading make this bag look like a vintage heirloom. It is versatile enough to wear again and again. It looks great with many bridal gowns, as well as special occasion dresses. Front side of handbag features encrusted pearl detail. Back side of handbag has shiny satin fabric. Half-moon frame bag. Polyester lining. Inside pocket. Kiss-lock closure.

Choosing a Flower Girl Dress For Your Wedding

When selecting a flower girl dress for your wedding, there are many things to consider - the age and height of the flower girl, wedding colors, dress length, dress style, and so forth. The first step is to know what styles of flower girl dresses are available.  There are really three distinct roles for little flower girls in a wedding. Flower Girl : a child attendant wearing a child-like dress in either Tea or Formal length who usually carries either a basket of petals to strew on the aisle or path announcing the arrival of the Bride.

Here a mini bridal dress will be introduced in this article. Fashionable and sweet, this is a dress your flower girl will love to wear over and over again! Spaghetti strap taffeta A-line silhouette features ultra-chic ruched bodice. Delicate bow on waist and full length tiered skirt finishes of the look.

reblogged: Our Wedding Ceremony and Reception are in Different Locations--Should I Provide Transportation for the Wedding Party

original: http://www.brides.com/blogs/aisle-say/2014/01/should-we-provide-transportation-for-wedding-party-members.html

Wedding transportation etiquette
Chances are you're quickly realizing just how fast wedding expenses can add up. Now throw transportation into the mix—should you cover the cost of shuttling your wedding party around all day? Our wedding etiquette experts are here to answer your questions in our daily post.
Our ceremony and reception are in different locations—do I have to provide transportation for the wedding party?
If your wedding budget allows, offering transportation to your wedding-party VIPs will be much appreciated. But if your budget is tight and you don't think you can stretch it to include a limo, no worries—just don't get one (and your wedding party shouldn't be upset at having to drive their own cars). But if you really think it'll be a problem for your bridesmaids and groomsmen, remember that there are other options beyond the traditional limo. Perhaps two town cars will suit your budget better? Or maybe a throwback-style yellow school bus (so cute in pictures!)? Then take the money you saved and put it toward something you really do care about (maybe spring for the top-shelf bar option or some dance-floor lighting, instead). But whatever you decide, try to allot enough cars so that you and your groom can leave the ceremony alone. As much fun as you might think it would be to pile into a car with all of the wedding party, that ride to the reception venue may be the only time you have to yourselves until the end of the night. Make it a point to spend a quiet moment reflecting on the momentous thing you've just done together.

reblogged: Questions Engaged Couples Should Discuss Before Getting Married

By Sheri & Bob Stritof

Many marriage education experts caution that when couples believe in the myths of "happily-ever-after" or "love conquers all," problems in the marital relationship may surface within a short time after the wedding.
The success or failure of your marriage relationship may hinge on how well you deal with issues such as finances, sexuality, communication, conflict, parenting, in-laws, leisure time, family of origin, spirituality, expectations, and chores.
Even though you may be very busy with wedding preparations, it is critical that you make time to prepare for your life time together by exploring your relationship in more depth.
Communication, along with a willingness to grow closer together, even when the topic is difficult, is one of the keys to a successful marriage.
Since August 2005 when we expanded this list of questions that every couple should discuss before getting married, we have received suggestions for more questions. Please send your suggestions to us at our email address. You can find this list of questions on one page to make printing them easier.
