Wedding transportation etiquette
Chances are you're quickly realizing just how fast wedding expenses can add up. Now throw transportation into the mix—should you cover the cost of shuttling your wedding party around all day? Our wedding etiquette experts are here to answer your questions in our daily post.
Our ceremony and reception are in different locations—do I have to provide transportation for the wedding party?
If your wedding budget allows, offering transportation to your wedding-party VIPs will be much appreciated. But if your budget is tight and you don't think you can stretch it to include a limo, no worries—just don't get one (and your wedding party shouldn't be upset at having to drive their own cars). But if you really think it'll be a problem for your bridesmaids and groomsmen, remember that there are other options beyond the traditional limo. Perhaps two town cars will suit your budget better? Or maybe a throwback-style yellow school bus (so cute in pictures!)? Then take the money you saved and put it toward something you really do care about (maybe spring for the top-shelf bar option or some dance-floor lighting, instead). But whatever you decide, try to allot enough cars so that you and your groom can leave the ceremony alone. As much fun as you might think it would be to pile into a car with all of the wedding party, that ride to the reception venue may be the only time you have to yourselves until the end of the night. Make it a point to spend a quiet moment reflecting on the momentous thing you've just done together.
